Thank you for this wide perspective on the purpose for marriage - I’ve been married two times and I definitely agree than there’s no place for self-centeredness within. Marriage is a lifelong lesson in self-sacrifice and the giving of oneself to another. I like how you pointed out it’s important to human culture as a whole - the bigger picture. And I, too, appreciate Wendell Berry’s writings!!
